I guess at this point I’m just like Jonah.. running from my calling. Why do we even do that? I’m not exactly sure. My best guess is that we are just wrapped up in the world’s nonsense and letting satan convince us with his 9 million lies that we can’t possibly do what God is asking us to.
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.Ephesians 2:10
And sometimes it’s hard isn’t it when you’re trying to figure out where to turn next… what are the next steps for me? Why is it so hard for me to trust God? His Word is His decree. That means it’s final there’s no way that it can be undone. And His Word time and time again tells me that He made me with a purpose. It tells me time and time again that I am special to Him and that He has a job for me to do.
But not only that- He says that HE will equip me for the job! I just need to be willing to do it and He will do the rest. So, in my head I know all of these things, right? But yet God told me to write to all of you readers …starting years ago and that call on my life has never left. I can’t see why He wants me to do it and I never know what to say. But I sit in front of this computer and just pour my thoughts out on “paper” and I’m believing that God is going to use it for whatever He wants to use it for.
I’ve learned over my relationship with Jesus that often I can’t see why He wants me to do what He’s asking me to do. Of course, then I feel silly when the plan comes together and it’s so clear what He was trying to do. At the end of the day His ways are higher than my ways and His thoughts are higher than my thoughts. That’s why He is God, and I am not.
He’s only asking me to be obedient and have faith. That seems simple right? Just have faith- and people say that all the time. Even Jesus himself said oh you of little faith. Where is your faith? The truth is I don’t know where my faith is! In my head nothing makes any sense but I can’t shake this peaceful assurance in my heart that God has a plan and He is trustworthy. His timing is epic and He will use whoever is willing to be used by Him.
I mean have you truly ever wondered what God could do with you? Think about it this way… if God created everything.. I mean really ponder that thought. Everything and anything that you see came from this magnificent being. He spoke the word and the entire universe came to be. He placed the sun in the sky – He is the master conductor of all that is. He is asking you to trust that He can use you.
Sometimes I think we don’t even realize that we have a calling. Sometimes the noise of the world gets so loud and that still small voice is so buried that we forget about the passion placed in us. God knew this. Why do you think He is constantly calling our hearts back into communion with Him? He knew that the draw of the world would seem impossible to resist.
Oh, but His Grace. If only we could spend some quality time pondering on the grace that is so sufficient for everything and anything that you and I are faced with. His grace is what wakes us up. His grace places purpose in us. His grace moves a heart to compassion. His grace is endless, limitless, unstoppable. He chose us! For such a time as this – to build a Kingdom where we reign in perfect union with the one who created everything from nothing.
Honestly, when I think about this – really stop and think about it… I’m at a loss for words. How could I have any excuse for not becoming everything He made me for? What could I possibly say that would warrant any delay of action on my part? What more could I need when I have His grace?
And we love to get down on ourselves don’t we? We have this ridiculous affinity for negativity. “Of course, it’s raining…” “Mondays are such a drag…” “They will never change…” “The bills just keep coming…” I sometimes wonder how many times Jesus smacked his forehead. It’s like trying to teach a kid to ride a bike.. they are scared – they think they can’t do it. No matter how much we tell them YOU GOT THIS! Don’t be afraid! I’m right here! Now, if it were an adult they would just give up.. but kids are awesome because they do it afraid.
Man- I don’t know about you but even sitting here writing this I’m like WOAH God .. I see you. This is stirring!! What an amazing God we serve! What an amazing and loving God that He in His epic-ness chooses us to bring about His Will. It’s so phenomenal!
We bring Him chaos, doubt, fear, limitations, weakness, brokenness. He gives us purpose, hope, love, grace, mercy, freedom, promise. What an awesome God He is! I geek out thinking about how He made ME WITH A PUPOSE IN MIND.
He infactuality (yes that’s a word now) put every ingredient in my spirit because He created the recipe. He intentionally measured every skill, every ability, every personality trait with a task in mind that would further His Kingdom. He created this recipe before I was even born. How can I possibly say I am not enough? How can I possibly be afraid when the God of the universe designed me with intention. That is so exhilarating!!

Who cares if the world doesn’t accept you? Who cares if your family has standards you won’t ever live up to? Who cares if your coworkers and friends have expectations you aren’t meeting? God accepts you. Jesus said come AS YOU ARE.
He never said : “you are going to have to hit these productivity targets and make sure they are on your resume – oh and you are going to need a polished cover letter and 6 letters of recommendation before you can submit an application that will have at least 2-4 weeks review time before you will be notified of acceptance or rejection.“
However, we sure do treat Him like He said that – don’t we?
What in the world. We must stop treating our creator as if He were like the world. He is not of this world, and neither are we. I double dog dare you to trust your maker today. Draw in close to Him so He can whisper those little love notes in your ear and watch your life be transformed. He is the answer to every problem, our greatest weapon against the lies of satan, our Champion, our Savior, our Advocate, our Best Friend, our Guide, our Truth and His Grace IS and always will be sufficient.
Well there you have it.. that’s the words I have for today. Thank the Lord I got that out before I ended up in a fish belly. Thank you for reading.
